SENT System

SENT System and its key benefits

Beginning November 1, 2024, non-EU transport companies will be required to register on the SENT platform. Newest regulation mandates that each time said companies carry goods into or across Poland towards the EU, they must submit a notification. Importantly, this registration requirement will extend to EU-based foreign companies in 2025.

Benefits of registering in SENT system

  • Registering in SENT is a legal requirement, ensuring full adherence to current regulations.
  • SENT allows for continuous monitoring of transported goods, boosting security and transparency in logistics operations.
  • Proper use of SENT helps avoid significant financial penalties for non-compliance. Those may range from 10,000 PLN (over 2300€) to as much as 100,000 PLN (over 23.000€) for serious violations.

What else you should know about the Poland’s transport reporting system?

The Electronic Transport Monitoring System (SENT) has been introduced in 2017. It’s worth mentioning that it was created in response to the rising need for stricter control over the transport of sensitive goods, including fuel, alcohol, oils, and tobacco products. Established to prevent irregularities and abuses in the handling of high-risk goods (as of February 22, 2022, this also includes waste), SENT aims to improve market safety and transparency within Poland.

All entities transporting sensitive goods within Poland are required to register. As of November 1, 2024, this will also apply to non-EU companies. Furthermore, from January 1, 2025, it will extend to EU-based foreign companies.

SENT monitoring covers items such as fuel, denatured alcohol, tobacco leaves, and waste. As regulations evolve, the range of goods under monitoring may also expand.

Failure to file or providing incorrect information may result in substantial financial penalties, potentially reaching tens of thousands of PLN. So it’s best to try and do everything in accordance with local laws. But if you’re hesitant or if you have doubts, give us a call or write us an E-mail. We’ll gladly help you.
